Overview:

This webinar will begin with a detailed discussion on the influence of media (print, digital, and social media) on suicide ideation. Following this will be a presentation by the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on their efforts to address suicidal individuals, and how others can help prevent suicide through intervening on social and digital media.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this webinar, participants will:

1. Describe media’s reporting of suicide on suicide ideation

2. Describe the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s efforts to address suicidal individuals

3. Demonstrate how practitioners, researchers, and lay people can use the “Support for Suicidal Individuals on Social and Digital Media” toolkit

Continuing Education:

This self-study training is designated for: (1) Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1.5 total Category I continuing education contact hour, and (2) for professionals with a Certificate of Public Health (CPH) to receive 1.0 CPH Recertification Credit. 

Continuing education credits are offered for this training for Safe States members. These include credits for individuals who are Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and Certified in Public Health (CPH).
