Overview:Electric scooters (e-scooters) have become increasingly popular nationwide. With the rise in use and popularity among this mode of transportation, limited data exists in monitoring injury related to e-scooters. In Texas, one community has characterized e-scooter related injuries and calculated an injury incidence rate to inform data-driven injury prevention strategies. Another Texas community has worked with members of the Texas Governor’s EMS Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) Injury Prevention and Public Education Committee to establish a unified ICD-10 code to capture the total number of injuries sustained on e-scooters and work with area hospitals and pre-hospital systems in gathering data and addressing injuries related to e-scooter use.
